Dixie MPO Logo

The Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization (Dixie MPO) is designated by the state of Utah to oversee transportation planning in the urbanized and urbanizing areas in Utah’s Washington County — historically known as “Utah’s Dixie.”

The Dixie MPO boundaries encompass St. George City, Washington City, Santa Clara City, Ivins City and portions of unincorporated Washington County. Member jurisdictions which comprise the Dixie MPO include Washington County, St. George City, Washington City, Santa Clara City, Ivins City, and the Utah Department of Transportation. This web site provides information about public notices and agendas for meetings of the Organization’s technical advisory committee known as the Dixie Transportation Advisory Committee (DTAC) and the Organization’s policy approving body known as the Dixie Transportation Executive Council (DTEC).

This web site and the navigation links at the bottom of each page contain information on transportation issues and project sequencing to meet the area’s transportation needs through 2050.

In January 2025, the MPO identified an additional $4 million in federal funds to be programmed to projects in STIP Years 2026 through 2029.  Funds available to the Dixie MPO originate from the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP funds), the Carbon Reduction Program (CRP funds) and the Dixie MPO Small Urban Funds (STP_SU_DMPO funds).

Seven separate projects requested funds in January 2025.

  • CRP Active Transportation Study
  • CRP County Projects
  • CRP Wayfinding Project
  • Hamblin Parkway  
  • River Road Intersection Improvements
  • River Road Widening
  • Washington Main Street Extension

The MPO programmed funding in the 2025 TIP process as follows:

  • $1,700,000 (STIP Year 2029 Small Urban funds) to Hamblin Parkway from Highway 91 to Snow Canyon Parkway.
  • $1,600,000 (STIP Year 2029 Small Urban funds) to River Road Intersection Improvements at 100 South and 700 South.
  • $890,000 (STIP Year 2026 Small Urban funds) to Washington City Main Street Extension to 100 East
  • $140,000 (STIP Year 2026 CRP funds) to a Virgin River Trail feasibility study and concept report
  • $50,000 (STIP Year 2025 CRP funds) to a feasibility study and concept report for a bicycle trail along Sheep Bridge Road
  • $150,000 (STIP Year 2025 – 2026 Small Urban funds) to various ITS projects in Hurricane, St. George, Washington City, Santa Clara, and Ivins

The MPO will also program all eligible Federal Transit Authority funds to transit services within Washington County, including the current transit lines in St. George, Ivins, Washington City, and the Bus Rapid Transit line between St. George and Springdale. The Transit TIP is available HERE
